In the second game of the year for both West Warwick and Warwick PAL, they ended in a 4-4 tie.

West Warwick took and early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Sam Corrado walked, moved to second on a bunt single by Dylan Lombari and scored on a single by Will Cornicelli.

In the bottom half of the second, Warwick PAL opportunistically scored four runs on three walks, two hits, one error and one wild pitch. Leading off the inning, J.T. Tourgee walked, moved to second base on an errant pick-off throw, advanced to third base on a single by Alex Mann and scored on a fielder’s choice by Matt Colvin. Calvin Banoch followed by reaching first on a walk to load the bases. After back to back strikeouts, Chris Banoch walked after fouling off several pitches to force in Mann. Colvin, then, scored the third run of the inning when Andrew Frenze lined a single to centerfield. Calvin Banoch scored the fourth run on a wild pitch.

In the top of the third inning, WWCM cut the lead to 4-2 when Nick Brown doubled with one out, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a Kyle DaSilva sacrifice fly to right field.

Liam Gravier, who walked to lead off the fifth inning, scored after three wild pitches.

In the top of the sixth inning West Warwick tied the game at 4-4 when Calvin Battersby (pinch running for Brendan Griffin who reached on a walk), moved to second on a single by Lombari, advanced to third on a walk to Cornicelli and scored on wild pitch.

Warwick PAL received solid relief pitching from Alex Mann, who struck out three and allowed only one run on two hits.

Meanwhile, three West Warwick’s pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, allowing just four hits. Andrew Sears, struck out four batters in the last two innings to preserve the tie.
