Led by Andrew Frenze’s two hits, Warwick PAL defeated Tiverton 11-3 in its season opener.

Josh Land struck out nine and walked none to lead East Greenwich to a 13-1 win over Narragansett/SK.

In addition to Land’s effort on the mound, Parke Hardesky hit two doubles (5 rbi’s) and Evan Macauley went 2 for 2 with three rbi’s.

The Cranston Bulldogs, who captured the 2019 championship, started their 2020 season with a 2-0 victory over East Providence.

After missing the entire spring season of high school baseball, the players from West Warwick and Flood Ford were able to “play ball” for the first time this year.

In a game that featured a combined five pick-offs and six errors between the two teams, the Orange and Black held on to a 7-5 victory.

In the first inning, Flood took an early 2-0 lead on rbi hits by Rob Whalen (single) and Chris Manzo (double).

After Ty Condon pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the second inning, West Warwick tied the game at 2-2 when Quinn Kortick (walk) and Chase Joubert (single) scored on a rbi single by Kyle DaSilva and a sacrifice fly by Andrew Sears.

In the top of the fifth inning, West Warwick scored five runs on four hits and two errors. Chase Joubert, who reached on a fielder’s choice, scored on a Kyle DaSilva double to right-center. Andrew Sears followed with a single to put runners at the corners. After DaSilva scored on a fielder’s choice by Brendan Griffin, Sam Corrado (rbi double) and Calvin Battersby (rbi single) followed the rally with back to back hits for a 7-2 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Flood Ford scored two runs on a single by Chris Manzo, walk to Connor Kennedy and two errors.

Flood rallied in the seventh inning when Xavier Quezda walked and scored on a Rob Whalen double to left field. AFter Chris Manzo followed with a single, West Warwick’s Andrew Sears struck out the final two batters to earn his first save of the year.
